Winter League 2022/23

As we have recently affiliated with Tennis Ireland, as a club we may now enter the Dublin Lawn Tennis Council Leagues, exciting times!

We know many of you are very keen to play on our first team in many years, however there are only so many league teams we can enter. Ideally, we would like to enter 2 men's teams and 2 ladies teams - 24 players in total. Below are some details about how you can apply for a place on the team. For all those interested, we will have an information session on what is involved to answer any further questions.

Below is the League Schedule for Winter League. As you can see, the first date tells us that the "Closing Date for entries'  is the 22nd November 2022. That means, we must notify DLTC of the number of teams Rockfield Tennis Club will be entering for Winter League.

Our biggest considerations in deciding how many teams to enter will be the impact to court usage on our members. There are 6 players on a team - 3 sets of doubles. You will play matches at 'home' and 'away'. For at home matches, we will need to block of at least 3 of our courts per night from approx 7pm for at least 2 hours. Matches are played on the same day every week for 5 weeks - not including play offs if the team win their section.

Qualification for a place on the Rockfield League Team.

1. You must be willing to accept challenge matches or participate in POD matches / club ladder and / or Singles Box Leagues.
2. You must attend team trials
3. You must be available for team training.
4. You must be available to play all matches (or at least most)

A panel will be created to chose the teams for league. They will chose the team based on results in POD, Open Tournaments, challenge matches and performance in team trials.

This is a very exciting opportunity for our members, and we are really looking forward to getting behind the Teams chosen to represent our club! We will be arranging friendly matches with other clubs to help prepare our players for league matches.
